WhatsApp buzzed with excitement: "Saturday we will bike in Hamalachim - Shahariya Forest." Bikes were loaded into cars as we prepared for our journey through the magical forest. Rain was falling steadily, and the question lingered—would the ride be canceled? Only time would tell.
Arriving at the forest entrance, we were greeted by the welcome sight of familiar faces. Despite the earlier weather, the rain had stopped just in time. About 20 of us, full of enthusiasm and warm hugs, gathered and set off on our adventure. Avi, a local who knows the forest like the back of his hand, took the lead. His knowledge of the area ensured we explored some truly breathtaking spots.
As we pedaled through the forest, carpets of anemones and cyclamens spread out before us, their vibrant colors turning the landscape into a living tapestry. The archaeological remnants scattered throughout the forest added a historical depth to our ride, making the experience even more enriching. The sight of fellow travelers reveling in the bloom added to the festive atmosphere. We couldn't resist taking countless photos, capturing the beauty and joy of the moment like children in a chocolate kingdom.
After a delightful ride, we returned to the cars, contemplating our next move—where to eat? We found a cozy spot between the parked cars and the road's safety barrier. Someone spread out a mat, and we all brought out our contributions to the meal. It was a simple, yet satisfying picnic, enriched by the shared camaraderie and the beautiful surroundings.
As always, the meal ended with a special treat—Shahar’s legendary coffee made in a Finjan over the fire. The rich aroma and perfect brew of this mythical coffee never disappoints, rounding off our Shabbat adventure on a perfect note.
